Galaxy 105–106 “Bling-Go! Mobile Bingo Game”
Galaxy 105–106, a radio station covering the North East of England and part of the Chrysalis Radio Group, wanted to launch their new mobile bingo game. After developing the initial concept, Galaxy 105–106 approached PIMS-SCA to provide further input and prize coverage.
OBJECTIVES
- To successfully launch one of its first interactive mobile games with a high value prize.
- To increase listeners to the stations.
- To further drive membership of its mobile database.
MECHANIC
- The Galaxy DJs promoted the game on-air.
- Listeners were encouraged to text the keyword “bling-go” to a shortcode to win £40,000 a day.
- Listeners received 10 randomly generated numbers between 1 and 105.
- Numbers were called out throughout the day by Galaxy DJs.
- If a listener successfully matched 3 numbers and called into the station, they won £500.
- Anyone with a ‘full-house’ won £40,000.
PIMS-SCA’s ROLE
- Aided Galaxy 105–106 with the promotional mechanic to allow them to offer the biggest prizes possible for their limited budget.
- PIMS-SCA advised on security issues within the promotion in order to prevent any false claims for the £40,000 full-house prize.
- PIMS-SCA provided a second prize coverage package in the event that the £40,000 prize was won early on in the promotional period, allowing Galaxy 105–106 to give away a potential £80,000 in prizes.
- “PIMS-SCA enabled us to offer prizes well outside our promotional budget, but at a fraction of the cost,” says Matt McClure, Programme Director for Galaxy 105–106. “They provided a highly exemplary service, ensuring a smooth and risk-free promotion for our first ever interactive, high prize value, mobile game.”
